A brighter Christmas for over 260 kids and parents
The end of the year is always a busy time for our resident Christmas elves as they work hard to collect, sort, coordinate and deliver gifts to bring a little joy to local families in need. Last month a team of Family Centre helpers pulled off another smooth and successful Christmas Cheer appeal, bringing Christmas smiles to 69 local families – 175 children and 88 adults.
Christmas parcels were made up of gifts and donations by schools, kindergartens, families, churches, clubs, businesses, trusts and our local community.
Christmas Cheer Coordinator Jill Fisher said donations were made by a diverse and generous group, from young children buying gifts with their pocket money to some significant corporate contributions.
“The generosity of local individuals and organisations really shines during Christmas Cheer,” she said.
“From the Napier City Council and Craggy Range we received grocery vouchers and Santa sacks for each child that contained books, balls and quality toys. We also received a large cash donation from Grow HR which we bought essential family groceries for families in need, and Napier Rotary donated two huge hampers for two of our clients with gifts for each of their children.
“Big or small, every contribution to Christmas Cheer brings joy to many families.”
