If the past year has left you feeling out of sorts, we’re here to help. Maybe you’re feeling anxious, sad, stressed, frustrated, or worried about your tamariki. You may be experiencing different feelings, and they might come and go. These feelings are understandable given the stress of recent weather events and it is perfectly normal to think and feel this way. Talking with someone might help.
If Cyclone Gabrielle or recent weather events have caused or worsened ongoing stress for you, we can offer counselling services free of charge. For some people, getting on with life can mean not realising that the after-effects of past weather events continue. If you can relate to anything in the list below, it’s possible this could be the case. We’d like to offer you the opportunity to explore this further and see if there is a link if you are unsure.
Our counsellors work with whānau and individuals in Napier, Hastings, Wairoa, and Central Hawke’s Bay.
Maybe you’re experiencing:
– Feelings of nervousness or worry
– Trouble sleeping or having disturbing dreams
– Increased frustration, anger, or sadness

– A desire to be alone or avoiding other people
– A need to be with others constantly, avoiding being alone

– Worry about your children’s well-being
You may be experiencing different feelings, and they might come and go. These feelings are understandable given the stress of recent weather events and it is perfectly normal to think and feel this way.
