Introducing our Board: Murray Arnold

Murray joined the Napier Family Centre Board at the end of 2023. He is a representative of St Paul’s Presbyterian Church, where he has been a member, youth leader and elder for over 30 years. We asked Murray to introduce himself:

“I am a Hawke’s Bay homebody having lived and worked in Hawke’s Bay most of my life, and after time in Dunedin at university I persuaded Lynne to marry me and join me in Napier.  We have been blessed with 3 children, and 8 grandchildren, 4 of which live in Napier and who love coming to visit/overnight with us.”

“My interest in, and connection with, Napier Family Centre comes from my involvement in St Paul’s Presbyterian Church where I have been a member, youth leader, and elder for more than 30 years.  Our Church was one of the inner city churches associated with the set up of Napier Family Centre.”

“I have worked as a land surveyor for government departments, and then as a resource consent planner for Napier and latterly Hastings District Councils, and held a variety of leadership and management roles in these organisations before retiring from full time work in 2020.  Since retirement I have no trouble filling in my time,  as I serve on the St Paul’s Parish Council, assist with maintenance around the church and grounds, am voluntary caretaker for the Presbyterian Church Camp (Tukituki Christian Camp) on the banks of the Tukituki River near Haumoana, and am still doing some work for the Hastings District Council.”

“I look forward to serving on the Board and contributing to the fantastic work the the team carries out.”
